Ozzy Osbourne, possibly better known today as the blathering dad in MTV’s “The Osbournes” then as lead singer of ’70s metal band Black Sabbath, will be the closing concert for the sold out BlizzCon 2009, the gaming festival for fans of Irvine’s Blizzard Entertainment games.
But Blizzard and Ozzy fans who are unable to attend can watch the concert online or on DirecTV for $39.95. DirecTV, as it did last year, will offer BlizzCon as a pay-per-view show.
Blizzard is all too familiar with the Prince of Darkness. Ozzy, who has sold over 50 million CDs worldwide, starred in a World of Warcraft commercial last year.
With Ozzy Osbourne’s reputation for sold-out concerts added to BlizzCon being one of the biggest gaming events of the year, it is no wonder tickets sold out in 4.1 seconds flat.
“…We can’t think of a better way to close out this year’s show than having Ozzy rock the house,” said Mike Morhaime, Blizzard’s CEO and cofounder said in a statement. “Many of us at Blizzard are lifelong fans of Ozzy’s music, and we’re thrilled that he’ll be performing for all of our BlizzCon attendees as well as those joining us via DIRECTV and the live Internet stream.”
